My favorite USB C hub for Macbook Pro 2016. I keep everything plugged in the hub pretty much at all times even when I'm not using it (printer, external hard drive, HDMI, charge cable).
So when I come home, I plug in 1 cable and all of my peripherals work right away. I used the HooToo hub prior to this one and had to return it because it didn't automatically detect HDMI.
I would have to constantly unplug and plug the HDMI cable to get it to work. How to create recovery usb for mac in recovery mode download. I edit videos, so the microSD card slot is perfect on this one - no SD card adapter needed, though it does have a port for it. The color is accurate to the Macbook's space grey color.
Durable build including the cable itself. The only warning I would give about this hub is that it interfered with my Logitech Performance MX mouse. This may sound like I am on the tech version of pimp my ride, but I currently have my 15' Macbook Pro 2018 connected to this hub that's then connected to my Dell 2410 monitor and to a USB dock that's connected to the USB hub on the monitor and daisy chaining my way through an external hard drive, USB speakers, a logitech gaming mouse, logitech keyboard, a USB ethernet adapter, and somehow it's keeping up with it all without a hitch. I've got a few pictures I've shared of my current setup so you have an idea of how it's currently working and everything works great. Physically the adapter is stylish, with the brand on top, made of metal on the external housing with a thick cable end connecting to the actual laptop.
The USB C connector part of it definitely feels like a tight fit and I had to. After doing a lot of research, I settled on this hub for my 15' macbook pro 2018. That requires 87W of power to full charge and so far this hub has been working fine for charging and usb. I use the hub for power, usb mouse, and external hdmi monitor. I use another usb-c port on my mac to drive a second monitor so with the hub I only need to plug in 2 cords when I need to take my macbook to a meeting, versus 4 cables.
I gave the unit 4 stars because I could not get my Logitech mouse & keyboard adapter to work reliably when connected directly to the hub. Neat for mac software. At times there was high latency while typing and moving my cursor. I extended it with a usb cable and located closer to the mouse and keyboard and it's now working fine. Do you have a new Mac with a USB C port and too many old USB things you want to connect to it?
My wife does, so I got this USB C hub for her. It has 3 USB 3 ports and a USB C port, so it isn't merely a USB 3 adapter. She can plug in her external hard drive for pictures and our old printer (that isn't wireless). It can also read the SD cards from our camera which saves us from using another adapter. The HDMI output is also nice, though the Ethernet port is less useful as everything is WiFi these days. It seems like that could have been better used as another USB port, but maybe that's just me. The unit itself surprised me with its weight.
